Day 4 (6/6/2012): Rest Day

Today was my first scheduled day off, and I wasn’t going to pass up the chance to be extremely lazy. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise and had some nice oatmeal for breakfast. Then, I went back to bed.:)

Dawn At Camp

I repeated this system of getting up, eating a bit and going back to sleep for most of the day. Which is about the perfect way to spend a vacation day.

Stormy mountains.

In the afternoon, the storm clouds started forming so I finally got a chance to test out the new tent which worked perfectly in a very heavy downpour. However, after several hours, I started to get hungry again but cold beans didn’t sound very good. Grace convinced me to brave the rain and cook a hot meal which was a fantastic idea. Just as I started to eat, a young doe came up from the river bank and stopped about 15 feet from me and we shared a meal together. When I finished, another three does came up and they began to frolic in the meadow, chasing each other back and forth until a truck finally scared them off after about 5 minutes. It was a pretty magical end to a wonderful day.
